EC&T division uses its proprietary Recovery Heat Treatment Process to fully recover turbine blades back to the ‘as-new’ condition. This service is considered to be vital to the refurbishment process and is carried out as standard on turbine blades.

In contrast to the limited warranties offered by other heat treatment vendors, our recovery process is fully included along with all other overhaul activity under the RWG engine overhaul warranty scheme.
The RWG Materials Laboratory fully supports the EC&T division and its recovery heat treatment processes by carrying out microstructural overheat and creep void assessments using OEM approved laboratory specifications. RWG has a long track record of blade examinations and this knowledge is especially important with, for example, RB211 ‘G’ Rated HP and ‘C’ Rated IP turbine blade sets now being refurbished with over 75,000 and 100,000 running hours respectively, being recorded.
We have the full capability to perform OEM approved recovery heat
treatment cycles on all service-run turbine blade material including
Nimonic, Incoloy and Marm-002 (DS and equiaxed) alloys.
This effectively covers HP, IP and LP Turbine blades used in all RB211, Avon and Olympus engines.
Our recovery heat treatments ensure that microstructures are returned
to an 'as-new' condition that will take turbine blades comfortably
through to the next scheduled overhaul, producing an 'as-new' rating
relative to the previous service run.
To prove the benefits of these heat treatments - E&CT Division commissioned a verification exercise with a major independent laboratory using Marm-002 (DS and equiaxed) material.
