Rolls Wood Group marks 20-year anniversary as sales hit £150 million

Rolls Wood Group (RWG) marks its 20th anniversary this month.

The 50 / 50 joint venture between Rolls-Royce and Wood Group GTS was formed in 1990 to provide Roll-Royce gas turbine repair and overhaul services and the company has grown from £10 million sales in the first year to £150m in 2009.

Its continued success over the last two decades has also see the RWG team grow from 90 in Aberdeen, to more than 500 people working in the UK, the United States and Malaysia, serving customers worldwide.

RWG provides services for Rolls-Royce RB211, Avon, Olympus, and 501K/570 aero-derivative gas turbines operating in the global oil and gas, energy and power generation markets and enjoys a market leading reputation of service excellence in all of these sectors.

In 2008, RWG entered into a joint venture in Malaysia, known as Rolls Wood OTEC, to service engines for Petronas, the Mayalsian oil group, and its affiliated companies.

Other milestones in the company's history include the opening of a 42,000 sq ft facility in Houston in 2008, and the opening of a new dedicated training facility in Aberdeen in 2007.

RWG welcomes 10 new apprentices into its training programme each year, and during its 20-year history, the company has successfully trained a total of 110 apprentices.
