Rolls Wood Group has developed it's image as a worthwhile employer through recruitment advertising in the local and national press.

As an Equal Opportunities Employer it carefully screens applications to ensure that candidates are selected for interview on the basis of merit only.

All interviews are conducted using structured interviewing techniques to ensure that candidates are treated and assessed in a consistent manner.

Rolls Wood Group also have close working relationships with Engineering Marine Training Authority, Regular Forces Employment Agencies and local Aberdeen training establishments, thus providing a suitable pool of competent recruits.

Rolls Wood Group and its predecessor have over the last 20 years operated a formal four year apprentice training scheme which we have found to be an invaluable source of competent employees.

At present, Rolls Wood Group have 19 apprentices undergoing training in Basic Workshop Practices, as well as tailored training in all aspects of the Operation.

Approximately twenty five percent of the direct work force were apprentices with the Company. Former Rolls Wood Group apprentices are now Managers overseas in the United States of America and others are Field Representatives in Venezuela and Canada.

Due to the nature of the business, gas generator arisings fluctuate from year to year by both quantity and type. Rolls Wood Group have selected and developed their workforce to meet this challenge by cross-training for multiskills and providing multifunctional workshops, all supported by finely tuned forecasts of workload.

Rolls Wood Group have built up a multiskilled workforce which can readily transfer their skills from one project to another. Flexible working practices maintain the target turn-round-times of engines undergoing repair or overhaul.
